AB de Villiers will captain South Africa in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, and many of the country’s hopes for a maiden title will rest on his shoulders.

  • Cricket South Africa (CSA) have announced the preliminary 30-man squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 as required by the tournament regulations. The 30-man squad announced by CSA has lots of young names. Many domestic performers have been included in the preliminary squad.
  • South Africa are a very well balanced team and they will enter the 2015 World Cup as one of the favourites.South Africa have a perfect blend of youth and experience.Although, South Africa have named many young and uncapped players in their 30-man squad, the final 15 will surely be from the side that recently toured Australia for T20 and ODI series.
  • As expected, South Africa have named AB de Villiers as their captain and Hashim Amla has been named as his deputy.
  • Although, South Africa lost the recently concluded ODI series in Australia, their well balanced and aggressive unit will be a big threat for any opposition. Their fast bowling unit is surely one of the best in world at the moment and their batting has a lot of depth in it.
  • The World Cup starts on February 14 and runs until March 29.
  • The Proteas will open their campaign against Zimbabwe at Seddon Park in Hamilton on February 15.
